DUAL-CERTIFIED NURSE PRACTITIONER
FNP-C/FNP-BC • PMHNP-BC • HIV • Ryan White • PrEP • Behavioral Health • Substance Use
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC + PMHNP-BC) to serve as the primary and sole Nurse Practitioner for our program.
This position will provide comprehensive care across primary care, HIV/Ryan White services, PrEP, behavioral health, mental health, and substance-use treatment. The NP will evaluate, diagnose, prescribe, and manage treatment across these areas within their education, certification, clinical competency, and Georgia scope of practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide comprehensive primary and preventive medical care.
• Provide medical care to patients receiving Ryan White HIV services.
• Initiate and manage PrEP, including oral and injectable/long-acting PrEP.
• Perform HIV testing, STI screening, laboratory monitoring, and appropriate follow-up.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat behavioral-health and mental-health conditions.
• Provide psychiatric medication management.
• Evaluate and treat substance-use disorders, including medication management when clinically appropriate.
• Prescribe and manage medications for HIV, PrEP, psychiatric/behavioral health, substance use, and other medical conditions within scope and competency.
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic testing.
• Develop and manage individualized treatment plans.
• Provide sexual-health and STI services and patient education.
• Coordinate specialty care and referrals when clinically indicated.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and meet applicable Ryan White/program requirements.
• Provide confidential, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and non-stigmatizing care.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Current Family Nurse Practitioner certification (FNP-C or FNP-BC).
• Current Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification (PMHNP-BC).
• Active Georgia RN and APRN authorization appropriate to the services provided.
• Eligible for Georgia APRN nurse protocol and prescribing authority.
• Current DEA registration, as applicable.
• Demonstrated experience in primary care, HIV care, and/or PrEP.
• Demonstrated experience in psychiatric/behavioral -health medication management.
• Demonstrated experience treating substance-use disorders and/or addiction.
• Ability to independently manage patients across medical, HIV/PrEP, behavioral-health, mental-health, and substance-use services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Ryan White clinical experience.
• HIV/PrEP experience, including injectable/long-acting PrEP.
• Substance-use/addiction treatment experience.
• Experience treating co-occurring mental-health and substance-use disorders.
• STI/sexual-health experience.
• AAHIVM certification or HIV-focused training.
• Experience serving underserved or medically complex populations.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a dual-certified FNP-C/FNP-BC and PMHNP-BC who is comfortable serving as the organization's sole NP and providing comprehensive care across primary care, HIV/Ryan White, PrEP, behavioral health, mental health, and substance-use services.
The selected NP must be comfortable prescribing and managing medications across all applicable areas of practice and collaborating with physicians, therapists, counselors, case managers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals when specialty consultation or referral is clinically appropriate.
GEORGIA LICENSURE
The selected candidate must maintain all applicable Georgia RN/APRN licensure, prescriptive-authority, DEA, and nurse-protocol requirements necessary to perform the responsibilities of this position.
